Abstract

Application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the industrial sector is presently growing in India. The changes already brought  about or awaiting to occur by the deployment and advancement of artificial intelligence in the industrial sector have triggered an interesting debate on the present and future impact of AI on the labour market and industrial law. This article aims primarily at critically analysing the transformation, whether positive or negative, brought by artificial intelligence on labour, labour market and industrial law. It further questions what sets Al apart from previous technological changes and also what sets it at par with them so as to analyse its implications for the labour market as well as industrial law. It, hence, gives out a discussion of the most pressing questions the future of labour in the AI era might bring. This article hopes to pursue a balanced approach on both the benefits and downsides of increased automation and use of AI in the industrial sector.
