Incredible India's incredibleness is a result of the country's distinctively diverse rural cultures. Every village undoubtedly produces distinctive tangible or intangible goods. Unique physical or intangible goods are today commodities and in high demand among metropolitan residents. Geographical indications (GI) are recognized legal markers that identify the country of origin of certain goods. Over the years, GI has not only helped people connect with authentic items and their ethnic roots, but it has also been extremely important in encouraging rural people to have an entrepreneurial spirit. The GI tag gives the product legal protection and forbids others from using it without authorization. GI tags assist customers in obtaining high-quality goods. A geographical indication right makes it easier for individuals who have the right to use the indication to forbid a third party from using it to market a product that doesn't meet the required standards. The Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act, 1999, which came into effect on September 15, 2003, is responsible for managing geographic indication registration in India. The purpose of this paper is to examine the significance and scope of geographical indication protection in rural development in India.
